REFLECTING on the Kenzo Takada collection of 1977, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon take us back to studio 54 in this Kenzo SS17 collection. Celebrating the euphoria of cultures, the show space was occupied with human statues (painted, nude bodies), who remained in place as the Disco Dressing show began.
Sparkle, shimmer and sequins were all evident in the Kenzo SS17 collection, there really is no denying it, with latex, ruffles, puff-sleeved blouses and an abundant of sequinned embellishments.
If this collection wasn’t referential enough, fashion illustrator, Antonio Lopez’s archive was recreated throughout the prints. So, let’s just say the disco season is back, and could sparkle be the new black?
