Stars of the moment such as Sienna Miller chose Gucci to go all 70s gypsy-heart Stevie Nicks on us while  Natalie Portman in sublime Lanvin and Naomi Watts, in Armani Privé, alongside The Sea of Trees co-star Matthew McConaughey in a dapper plum three-piece suit, did Cannes more demurely.

And what would Cannes be without a gaggle of gorgeous models, those including Liu Wen  in Ralph & Russo, Laetitia Casta in Givenchy Haute Couture and Kendall Jenner in Azzedine Alaia with Chopard Jewels, soaked up the Riviera rays in gowns that flaunted much skin. Alternatively, while also dripping in Chopard, beauty Anja Rubik made a more tactical game of unveiling erogenous areas in a sinuous Atelier Versace dress.

Icons such as Marisa Berenson dolled up in resplendent Dior, Michael Caine, arm in arm with Youth co-star Rachel Weisz in Prada, and also a majestic Jane Fonda, in a trusty Atelier Versace gown of startling cobalt, simply couldn’t be missed against the red carpet.
