IT’S COLD out there! And it’s almost Christmas – giving you an excuse (if one is ever needed) to light a scented candle. Here is the Glass edit of our favourite ones of the season.

The innovative British candle brand Parks is one of earliest pioneers in sustainability. Founded by Carol Symons in 1989, Parks has been committed to making candles with 100 per cent natural wax, a super-clean burn – as well as responsible and sustaible sourcing. & Other Stories, Midnight Encore Candle
The Swedish-founded, international fashion company & Other Stories has a beauty and fragrance line that is quietly impressive. From their very reasonably costed candle collection, with pretty blue coloured wax and housed in elegantly frosted glass and FSC-approved packaging, Midnight Encore has subtle, lush and warming notes of cashmere woods, salted musks, ambroxan; lush jasmine petals, fig leaves and a pinch of black pepper to spice it up. Björk & Berries, Måne
The ecoluxury Swedish skincare, fragrance and home scent company Björk & Berries has a commendable approach to sustainablity. The brand uses only certified organic ingredients, with natural ingredients making up 95–100% of and using packaging using the most sustainable options currently available and suitable for our formulas and products.
Björk & Berries, Måne (moon in English) is made of 100 per cent natural vegan wax and is hand poured and is scented with spicy and rich wild cherry, cinnamon, osmanthus,violet at its heart and birch, leather, cedarwood holding it together in the base.

Candle 5, MixMy
Recently launched by British beauty entrepreneur, Vicky Bellerby, MixMy is a “home fragrance concept” which allows you – by combining the range according to your taste – to create your own unique and special home-scented environment. Each candle in the range is designed to complement each other – in all their combinations with not one dominating the scentscape.
Presented in an covetable weighty bespoke glass cube – made to be refilled again and again – each 100% natural vegetable wax candle and is hand-poured in the UK .
For winter, I suggest burning Candle 5, Wood / Smoulder, which is smoky, sweet, rich and creamy and is fragranced with cedarwood, guaiacwood and birch tar, leather. sweet tobacco leaf and amber

Gilt, Boujee Bougies
Created by leading perfume experts – obsessives even – perfumer Pia Long and creative director, Nick Gilbert, Boujee Bougies (geddit?) is a pun-filled candle collection which smell simply divine.
The candles are composed of 100% natural wax made of a unique blend of rapeseed, soy and beeswax, (which gives an even burn), the luscious Gilt is scented with accents of black pepper, lemon, juniper berry, saffron, aldehydes, tobacco, cypress, labdanum, amber, frankincense, myrrh, opoponax, cashmere woods and cedarwood atlas. Phew!

Cashmeran Velvet, Ostens
Ostens is a perfume brand created by perfume experts Laurent Delafon and Chris Yu (who have worked with the biggest names in the scent world like Francis Kurkdjian, Olivier Polge Lyn Harris, Sophie Labbe and Dominique Ropion) to celebrates their favourite raw fragrance ingredients –of the finest quality. l
This year they launched a candle range – again focussing on a select few notes. The candles are housed in sophisicated mouth-blown scalloped glass and the wax is hand-poured for an even burn. Cashmeran Velvet – the third offering for the collection – and it is warming and comforting – perfect for the long cold winter.

Ambre Nuit, Dior Beauty
From the French iconis brand’s exclusive Collection Privée line and housed in a lovely ceramic jar, the rich and smoky Ambre Nuit candle is scented with notes of rose and ambergris.
Its creator François Demachy, the former Parfumeur-Créateur Dior says, “The idea was to create a sensual Rose by combining it with Ambergris, two of the most emblematic ingredients used by perfumers. This accord was particularly important to me; I worked on it for many years before successfully creating Ambre Nuit.”
