NYFW SS16: Zac Posen

In a move that’s catching on among the Big Apple’s biggest designers, Zac Posen approached SS16 in a far more lighthearted manner than ever before. Restraining his colour palette to somber monochromes with only one flash of fire engine red in between, Posen balanced out his latest collection with more dainty daywear and less of the billowing gowns he is celebrated for.

Naturally, having only recently debuted his first collection for Brooks Brothers, Posen does have quite a bit more on his plate than usual, but nevertheless managed to put together a collection worthy of his fine eye for dressing to the nines.

Beyond the demure sun-dresses that opened the show, once Posen turned his attention to evening wear, the bulk of the the pieces were geared more instinctively for their natural habitat – the red carpet.
Enter the bodices with silk cascading beneath, the intricately placed bugle beads and the complete sculpting of the body. By the time the significantly more tepid final look did the rounds, SS16 at Zac Posen successfully saw a grand designer not putting everything on the line and turning that into a superb fashion statement.
