Meanwhile in Paris this past week, Hermès has spoken; Lemaire is out and Vanhee-Cybulski is in. Usurping the previous head of design at Hermès, Christophe Lemaire, Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski has officially taken on Lemaire’s role as Artistic Director, nominated to take charge of women’s ready-to-wear with effect from the AW15 collection.
Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski
International experience precedes the 36 year old French native who is now at the prestigious helm of the iconic luxury goods giant, following on from seasoned turns at Maison Martin Margiela, from 2005 – 2008, Celine, until 2011 and finally The Row, until March 2014. Never one to let her feet get cold, the designer, “delighted to be joining Hermès, a house I so admire”, is already causing a promising stir, Axel Dumas, CEO of Hermès, inferring that “Her talent and her creative track record will be great assets in the continued development of women’s ready-to-wear”.
Lemaire’s own four-year strong track record at Hermès is certainly something to live up to and Glass is rooting for Nadège all the way, we personally can’t wait to see what AW15 will bring as a result of this exciting shakeup.
