Conceived as a tool to convey the parallels of vulnerability and strength, Moarno — the brainchild of Gianmarco and Francesco Marano — crafts pieces dwelling between identity and belonging.
LET’S get real. We all like to dream about seasonal escapes that play out like some FOMO-inducing social media scrolls, feel-good habits wondrous landscapes and sun-tinged temperatures within name-your-fighter kind of places.
Still, for most of us, the present times are a normal part of every day, with the usual work to pursue and errands to run. In thinking through their first collection, and the eclectic wardrobe it includes, Moarno’s Gianmarco and Francesco Marano attempted to square sentimentality, identity and belonging.
Loose silhouettes, lightweight fabrications juxtaposed with heavier textiles, and jauntily-crafted cotton and soft wools redolent of the kind of breezy feel your fantasy muses over after a dip in the Mediterranean could epitomise an aesthetic key to Moarno’s style. All this could highly resonate as the founders were raised in Naples, a place where the sun shines down from unpolluted skies.

“I’ve always known that my journey would be shaped by instinctive choices, hard work, and ambition,” opined Gianmarco Marano in a preview with GLASS. “Moarno was born from a shared dream between my brother Francesco and me, both raised under the sun of Naples. We didn’t just want to create a brand—we wanted to build a language that transforms the intimate and personal into something universal. Every experience can resonate globally, and our goal is to connect with those seeking a genuine sense of belonging.”

Now, at a time where the need for practical wardrobe offerings is increasingly commonplace, Moarno’s functional pieces, casual separates and wear-anywhere practicality seem like the wardrobe of a world that looks more or less like a time where less was most definitely more. In any case, designer Gianmarco Marano has never sought comfort in the mundane.
“I started this journey with determination, knowing that nothing comes by chance,” explained Marano, adding how “I worked, made mistakes, and learned. I wasn’t interested in rushing but in building something meaningful. I wanted to master the art of balance: the obsessive attention to detail, emblematic of Made in Italy, and the ability to create products that are not only beautiful but also durable and responsible, in harmony with both the present and the future.”

With this collection, the designer was romancing the idea of a busy clientele getting things done, who will appreciate the option he’s given them for solving mid-season conundrums of what to wear for a stroll when you’d sort of rather be at the shore.
“Our garments don’t shout, nor do they seek to impress. They are meant to be lived in and adapted to those who wear them. We believe that true elegance lies here: in a timeless authenticity capable of crossing seasons and lives. In a world that moves fast, we choose to slow down, to build with patience—because that’s where real, lasting value is born.” It’s easy to get the practical appeal of these clothes. To Moarno’s credit, it’s also easy to feel their commercially accessible, albeit lovely, allure.
