MFW SS15: Missoni

Missoni pulled out all the statement stops this season, not surprising since they are a statement family. So it was up to the family with the timeless eye for patterned beauty to give is something vivacious for oncoming summers, obviously, they did it. No nonsense summertime swank was their antidote for some of SS’s more unruly entries, meaning maxi-dresses, nightdress silks, and, because this is Missoni, some of the most artisanal knits around. Spread across long silhouettes with breezy ease in Sardinian seashore hues, dresses overthrew nearly the entire collection from start to finish, though the palazzo pants and oversized shirts strewn in a flirty jumble all still spelll glamorous ease.

One of fashion’s most strengthened family dynasties make every step to ensure that nothing is undone in their fashion empire, this season’s unrestricted free-spirited allure may have been just that, but it was all under control. Even with the more any-which-way stripe arrangements, rendered vertically, horizontally and even in a chevron composition, the lively patterns, undeniably, were made to please all. With the majority of leisurely luxury looks tied together with a divinisimo turban, Missoni gave us an on season Mediterranean masterpiece for SS15 wherein sandals actually worked as they should for the first time in recent fashion history, no hide nor hair an ironic affectation.
