RM 41-01 Tourbillon Soccer Brings Football to Haute Horlogerie

RICHARD Mille has introduced the RM 41-01 Tourbillon Soccer, a mechanical watch designed to follow the structure of a football match through high watchmaking. Taking over five years to develop, the piece is built around a newly created, patented tourbillon flyback chronograph calibre and offers two complications specific to the sport, in the form of a match-phase indicator and a mechanical goal counter.

Alexandre Mille, Commercial Director, says, “We think in concepts rather than linear evolutions. What we learn on one reference can become the starting point for the next challenge.” The titanium movement combines a tourbillon, a 70-hour power reserve and a flyback chronograph with central minutes and seconds. Its skeletonised design houses around 650 components, while a display at 9 o’clock tracks the phases of a match, advancing from first half to second half and into overtime each time the chronograph is reset.

Made from micro-blasted grade 5 titanium, the movement features an open design and extensive hand finishing, with each component shaped to reduce weight while maintaining strength. Two column wheels control the chronograph, including a dedicated reset system that ensures a consistent feel across the pushers.

The 105-component tonneau-shaped case comes in two versions, using Red Carmin Basalt TPT, Dark Blue Quartz TP and Carbon TPT for their strength, stability, and lightness. The RM 41-01 Tourbillon Soccer is limited to 30 pieces and presents a mechanical interpretation of football timing through contemporary haute horlogerie.
