A testament to the city’s importance to the international art collecting community, Art Central Hong Kong is the latest edition to the art fair calendar. Located just a ten minute walk away from Art Basel Hong Kong, Art Central focuses on showcasing new and emerging talent. As one of 70 international galleries participating in its inaugural edition this March, The Fine Art Society will feature works by contemporary artists such as Chris Levine, Rob and Nick Carter and Janet Laurence. The gallery will also be presenting the work of two new artists who will join its stable of represented names – Jacky Tsai and Barnaby Hosking.
Best known as the creator of the iconic floral skull image in Alexander McQueen’s 2008 SS collection, Tsai combines traditional Chinese painting techniques with Pop Art references. The Fine Art Society will present the artist’s first work in embroidery as well as his largest piece of lacquerware to date.
British artist Hosking will also be featured at the fair. His films, paintings, and light installations explore the physical and the ephemeral through the use of tactile and sumptuous materials, epitomised by his signature brass butterflies. Hosking’s new pieces on velvet and sculptures in brass will be featured at Art Central Hong Kong.
