LONDON after dark showed signs of life again this autumn. In late November, cult members’ club Christabel’s returned with a new flagship address at 4 Winsley Street, tucked between Soho, Fitzrovia and Mayfair, just moments from Oxford Street.
Created in collaboration with the Chinawhite team, the new Christabel’s marked the club’s most polished incarnation to date. Crucially, the venue launched with a full live music licence and extended hours, officially opening until 4 am and, on special occasions, operating until 6 am.

Live bands, DJs and burlesque performances ran deep into the night, reviving a sense of unpredictability that had largely disappeared from the capital’s nightlife. “We were bringing back that feeling that anything could happen,” said founder Christabel Milbanke at the launch. “London’s nightlife had been dimmed by restrictions and closures, but we were not going to tell our members to go home at 11.”

Christabel’s
Christabel’s story had always been as unconventional as its reputation. The club began during the 2020 lockdown as an avant-garde art installation inside Fulham Town Hall, before moving to 1 Percy Street, a Fitzrovia address once frequented by Ernest Hemingway and The Rolling Stones. After a dramatic floor collapse on its first anniversary, it re-emerged as a secret speakeasy beneath The Windmill Theatre, connected to the main stage by a hidden passageway.
Over the years, Christabel’s attracted an eclectic mix of musicians, artists and fashion figures. Past guests and performers included members of Black Sabbath, Babyshambles and The Pogues, while Shane MacGowan’s final exhibition afterparty famously drew Kate Moss onto the dance floor.
The bar proved as curated as the guest list. Christabel’s collaborated with Keira Chaplin, granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin, on a bespoke cocktail menu featuring her spirits brand Generations, spanning whiskey, gin and vodka. The house signature remained the pale pink Coracho Rosado Tequila, a nod to the club’s romantic, vintage glow.
