Dior unveils the fifth Dior Lady Art collection

THE fifth Dior Lady Art collection’s spectrum of designers and their respective iterations of the Dior Lady bag are intended to map the multifaceted identity of today’s Dior woman. The 10 designers come from around the world, and represent a wealth of ages, experiences and perspectives. The collection beautifully reflects this.

Mai-Thu Perret and her Dior Lady Art designs

Mai-Thu Perret is one of the designers responsible for this collection. Her offerings are characterised by an imaginary alphabet of glyphs. The white, full-sized bags bear these characters woven in tapestry. The black, mini edition is encrusted with glass beads that make up the primary-coloured glyphs.

Claire Tabouret and her Dior Lady Art designs

Claire Tabouret’s scarlet bags bears her own self portrait. Another, rendered in faux fur depicts a group of dancers, not unlike the compositions of Degas’ ballet dancers. These images are markedly painterly, the expressive brush strokes and feminine subjects recall classic artworks, but the faux fur, colour palette, and placement of the Dior Lady’s charms (they fall form the mouth of Tabouret’s self portrait) render her bags distinctly contemporary.

This collection is successful in platforming and celebrating the creativity of its host of artists’s through the classic Dior Lady silhouette.
