Dyson Launches New Haircare Range Grown On Its Own Farms

DYSON has launched a new two-piece haircare range called Omega, and it’s designed to treat dry, frizzy and tangled hair using natural ingredients, including sunflower oil grown on Dyson’s farms in Carrington, Lincolnshire.

The range includes a hydrating hair oil and a leave-in conditioning spray, which are both powered by Dyson’s Oli7 blend that’s made up of seven omega-rich plant oils; and this marks the first time Dyson has used an ingredient from its farming division in a beauty product.

Sir James Dyson, founder of Dyson and Dyson Farming, said: “We’ve brought together two completely different worlds – farming and beauty – to develop a product that unlocks healthy hair with natural ingredients. Twelve years ago, Dyson invested in research and understanding the science of hair. We discovered ways in which our technology could radically improve hair health. Leaps in innovation – such as our motor, heater, and airflow technology – allowed us to revolutionise haircare and achieve step-changes in performance.”

He continues, “Meanwhile, in an entirely different field, we have spent over a decade experimenting and investing in precision farming. We have focused on growing the best, tastiest and most nutritious produce, farmed sustainably and efficiently, while protecting the environment and encouraging biodiversity. It’s a passion and in the process I became very interested in how the farms could add to the development of ingredient-led beauty products which aid hair health.”

The hair oil is silicone-free, lightweight, and protects against heat while softening and smoothing. The 8-in-1 spray detangles, reduces frizz, adds shine, strengthens, and protects from UV and heat, perfect in time for holidays and beyond.

Dyson uses sunflower oil for its fast absorption and high omega-6 and 9 content, with over 60 varieties trialled to maximise its benefits. The Oli7 blend also includes olive, avocado, corn, macadamia, Abyssinian and sesame oils, each chosen for hair health, and they’ve kept the scent clean with citrus, floral notes and a subtle musk base.
