Nasir Mazhar’s Spring Summer 2014 collection was a daring exploration of street style and bondage-inspired athletic wear. Carrying over the avant-garde structuralism of his millinery creations, Mazhar’s catwalk featured looks like printed track suits with eponymous markings, sequined athletic-style shorts, and displays of boxers under tracksuits.
Notably, of course, the collection spawned caps of simpler, tasteful street style inspired design, as well as bolder headgear. The most striking look of the collection was a bucket headpiece, spouting elephant-like features (“eyes”, “ears” and a proboscis-like “tongue”) that seemed to self-reflexively comment on the daringness and the street-wariness of the designer and of his line.
No doubt inspired by the distinct gear of pugilism, models wore face gear in black and boyish red, and wore backpacks characteristic of the designer’s renowned structural intricacy.
