THE RENOWNED Italian brand Ferrari embodied the power of desire with its recently released spring-summer 2024 collection hosted during Milan Fashion Week.
The brand’s latest collection which was designed by creative director Rocco Iannone, oozed desire and passion, themes close to the heart of Ferrari throughout its establishment.
It is within these thematics that each new goal expands as passion and desire motivate the strive for excellence in everything the brand achieves such as its design, performance, aesthetics and innovation — and it was this desire that drove Iannone to explore new aspects of sublimation and complex simplification.
Ferrari’s distinctive style codes consisting of racing, workwear and tailoring were refined and unified this season to emphasise the beauty and sensuality of the body through the use of form, colour and fabric. Various silhouettes between skin-tight and voluptuous proportions, are portrayed throughout the collection with short, long and widened dimensions constructed from curved lines, circular sleeves and amplified volumes.
The colour palette illustrates a steady ascension of layering as it demonstrates hues of bright whites, luxurious beiges, rich navy blues and the distinctive Ferrari red. The show began with the display of white cloud-like napa leather garments exuberant with its check 7X7 quilting, a motif recurrent throughout the collection and one that is distinctive of the Ferrari style.
Beige tones follow, with perforated leather which upon closer inspection discloses the Prancing Horse emblem and knitted skirts, tops and dresses are flaunted with their thin gauze-like textures.
The collection further features denim washes that showcase vertically discoloured designs which encourage the display of its myriad of textures. The draping of technical wool is presented in hues of navy blue as the shade of powder blue trails revealing itself in cabled knits and satiny froissé nylon.
Silky amber-hued garments follow the various blues of before, as they accompany the transition from day to night and to bring the collection to a close, the brand unveiled silhouettes fabricated from patent leather demonstrating the iconic Ferrari red.
Producing sustainably is a concept that sits at the core of the brand and Iannone ensured its continuous practice throughout the collection.
The garments on the runway were fabricated from GRS-certified wool, organic cotton and denim, OEKO-TEK-certified flock denim and plongé leathers while the brand also ensured their compliance with the standards of supply chain traceability and transparency.
As for the accessories of the collection, sculptured jewellery was inspired by authentic engine parts while futuristic-looking sun visors and tech-couture gloves accompanied a variety of looks. The Ferrari GT Bags made an appearance as they were showcased in their rigid versions alongside their new soft leather and suede fabrics which came in the form of mini, medium and maxi duffles.
However, the bag of the season was the Maranello Clutch which was dyed using the same dying process the brand uses for their Maranello cars.
Comprehensive of the company’s ethos, Ferrari’s spring-summer 2024 collection exuded an essence of elegance, luxury and passion with their rich colour palette, refined silhouettes, desirable fabrics and precise craftsmanship.
