Monique Lhuillier, the queen of beautiful and ultra-feminine dresses and gowns, made her SS16 collection shine bright with splashes of bold colours of watermelon, orange, electric blue or natural greens, including the beauty as the eyes of the models were popping with different shades of eye liner.
Taking on the theme of nature, the showcase bloomed with delicate floral embellishments and embroideries. The blossoming motif was woven in throughout the whole collection with floral lace dresses, skirts and tops occasionally worn over contrasting white shirts and printed tailored flared trousers and dresses often layered with embroidered sheer mesh.
The hems of dresses were reaching a broad variety of lengths – from summery floating maxi ensembles and 1950s-inspired midi ones, with an occasional fur jacket thrown on, to mini numbers with colourfully embellished collars. Also minimalistic black and white frocks were on offer that evening, contradicting the gaudy majority of the show.
The looks were complemented by accessories in vibrant hues – fringed sandals on a kitten heel or high block-heeled ones, and chained purses wrapped around the models’ wrists among others. But to add to the more minimal side of the offering, shoes in black or white with a metallic strap and perspex wedge were spotted on the catwalk as well.
