Menswear is earning itself a reputation for being more innovative than its feminine counterpart, that it’s taking more risks and becoming an art form in itself. But Dries Van Noten’s autumn collection seems to have ignored that memo. It’s a rather simplistic collection of pieces with an abundance of layering, all with a rather muted colour palette. It has a tone of sophistication that seems to get lost in menswear nowadays due to the desire for innovation.
The bonus of this collection is most of the models could step off the runway and out onto the streets and look like stylish individuals rather than crazy fashion wannabes. Generally the clothes are classic with subtle patterns and cut differences that make them something new. It grasps a classic sophistication that the world of fashion forgets now and again.
