SINCE its founding by Louis-Francois Cartier in 1847, French luxury jeweller Cartier has maintained intimate ties with the worlds of art and culture – from the Fondation Cartier Pour L’Art Contemporain to the brand’s annual Women’s Initiative.
Now, furthering the Maison’s long-lasting commitment to preserving cultural heritage and promote contemporary art, Cartier has partnered with La Biennale di Venezia to become the main sponsor of the Venice International Film Festival.
The Golden Lion awarded at the Venice Film Festival
Supporting the creation of contemporary film, as part of the collaboration, from this year onwards, Venice International Film Festival and Cartier will honour outstanding filmmakers with the Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker Award, which, according to the House, will be “dedicated to a personality who has made a particularly original contribution to the contemporary film industry.”
The hotly-anticipated award ceremony will take place from September 1 to September 11 during the festival in Lido di Venezia.
