Cartier presents Style and History
Next month, Cartier will launch Style and History: a gargantuan retrospective, celebrating the history of the legendary fine jewellery house.
Curated by Laurent Salomé, the exhibition is an exploration of art history, presenting over 600 original Cartier pieces alongside archive documents and contextual objects. The exhibit will be divided into multiple themes, navigating the various elements of the brands history. Cartier and the Movies will chronicle the house’s relationship with the film industry, remembering iconic pieces, and the stars who wore them.
Cartier’s Mythic Couples will display pieces worn by iconic couples throughout the brand’s history: from Hollywood legends Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, to the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. As Head of Fine Jewellery from 1933 to 1970, Cartier and Jeanne Toussaint will honour the woman whom led the house’s creativity, and introduced the now emblematic panther theme. Finally, Cartier in 20 Iconic pieces presents twenty jewels picked by Pierre Rainero and the Image, Style and Heritage team, all of which perfectly encapsulate the house’s emblematic style, originality and provenance.
