AFTER a year of iconic looks down the runaway during fashion week, Prêt-à-portea establishes an astonishing, new selection of sweet treats which have all been inspired by looks from the runway of AW23.
Located in Knightsbridge and just across the road from Hyde Park, inside the Berkeley hotel, the gorgeous cafe area is bright, cosy and warm. You are welcomed with the utmost polite service and care, so that all of your needs are met during your pleasant visit.
Afternoon Tea, Cakes and Champagne at The Berkeley
Unlike your typical afternoon tea, these cakes are a true wonder to behold. Ranging from Alexander McQueen to Prada, we see all of the beautiful features of garments in the menu of this frosty season, beginning from mid October. It has all been designed to wow you in both visuals and taste. Glass returns to the Berkeley after reviewing a Jimmy Choo high tea collaboration almost 10 years ago.
Tea and Nina Ricci-inspired dark chocolate and yuzu lemon cake
To start off the afternoon, you can treat yourself to a lovely glass of champagne, rose or white. Then you move onto choosing the sandwich selection, you would like whether you prefer veggie or meat, with the big event of the tea and marvellous cakewalk to come.
Prêt-à-portea offers an extremely wide variety of teas to choose from so indulge in the fantastic and refreshingly, new flavours that you may not experience everyday.
The three treats above are inspired by Versace, Missoni and Victoria Beckham. The first brightly coloured turquoise comes from Dontella’s use of volume and the return of the iconic 90s silhouettes. The gown is immortalised in wonderful vanilla mousse, Emmanuel sponge, a fig and plum compote, topped with a fruity tulle skirt.
The next masterpiece takes the foundational zigzags of Missoni to create a glamorous look, represented in the Joconde sponge. This is wrapped around a mandarin mousse and almond praline, topped with zigzig chocolate.
Finally, the last biscuit is taken from Beckham’s latest collection with a stunning trophy jacket, in the form of an orange sable, piped with royal icing.
Prêt-à-portea has been running this fashion inspired event for 35 seasons now, first launching the SS05, with over 110 designers who have appeared throughout their history. So there will only be more delicious treats to come next year!
