DESPITE only launching in 2018, Ahluwalia has made an impressive mark on the world of London fashion with its unique and bold menswear, and it continues to see new heights.
This season, Ahluwalia’s AW21 collection was presented in a short film entitled Traces, directed by Stephen Isaac-Wilson. Set in a grand building with arches and pillars, the film embodies the collection’s theme of brotherhood and unity. Musician Cktrl plays an exclusive composition for the film, evoking a sense of both nostalgia and hope, as the models move in synchronicity.

Unlike Ahluwalia’s previous bright and colourful pieces, the clothes from this collection offer a more subdued look with colours of navy blue, dark green, earthy brown and black. The pieces are complimented with Ahluwalia’s renowned graphic theme of stripes, diagonal lines and curved detailing, creating smaller blocks of bold colour.

Presenting staple menswear pieces including sports jackets, shirts, sweatshirts and straight-leg trousers, Ahluwalia’s unique designs elevate them to another level. Other looks feature gradient denim jackets, brown corduroy trousers and tricolour sleeves.
The collection continues to exude inspiration from founder Priya Ahluwalia’s dual Indian-Nigerian heritage. Two pieces feature an Afro comb graphic that centres around the letter A.
Ahluwalia AW21
It is certainly wonderful to see Priya honour her identity through rich cultural expression in her work, and we will no doubt be highly anticipating her next collection.
