LFW SS16: Issa

In what was a win-win for everyone involved, Issa and its latest creative director Jamie O’Hare came out on top on day three of London Fashion Week with a lot of signature design sass. In his second major catwalk collection, following an entirely on point resort offering, O’Hare based spring / summer on repeating motifs found in nature.

Going geometric and putting outré embellished intricacies on overload, Issa was  all about repetition of contradictory motifs to create striking balances for the body. This varied from fluid drapery and slithering silk to blocked grid like patterns in armoured shells of sequins and various other hardware that audibly sashayed down the catwalk.

Dabbling in futurism but only so much so to compliment Issa’s trademark understanding of cherishing the natural female form, dynamic pixelated patterns looping with circular circuits of print were cleaned up by fresh white and more zingy lime and lapis colourways. Construction was also very considered, with lace jersey and cowl knits hanging off the body with a chic, uncomplicated ease that no doubt owes all to O’Hare’s learned hand that has produced a number of new and exciting shapes this season.
Finally, when the freely feminine silhouettes did their last round on the runway, Issa’s place in the club seemed stronger and more appropriate than ever, for this is a brand that is still so close to its founding essence and the some.
