London Collections Men SS16: Sibling

Sibling was on steroids this season and in Americano super-jock galore in what was another suitably iconoclastic exercise in subversion. Playing hard ball, the acclaimed trio looked to the all-American juicehead of the sports field and transformed this distinctive narrative into a collection that manoeuvred marvellously between clothing with stylish wear-ability and pure costume design.

Opening up the show with a pair of supremely cut suits that come courtesy of Edward Sexton’s fine eye for a structured shoulder Sibling all but instantly succeeded in further carving out their niche factor on the LCM schedule. Departing from this slight change of form, a detour to Beachamp Place if you will, Sibling then went along as usual.

Oversized shoulders owed all to American football  and came along with skin-tight lace-up trousers and knitted crew necks with rugged skin being flashed shamelessly. Exaggerating this further, Sibling decided upon derrière exposing jock straps, which unveiled every last crevice of models nether regions, much to the audience’s amusement. The flushed rosy cheeked makeup also rode home the testosterone to the max sex appeal of it all.

Swirls of eye-catching, nigh on gaudy, prints gave ensembles unique character and fishtail parkas with enveloping hoods trimmed with plastic bristles evidenced Siblings visionary creations. It all soon came to a very satisfying end by the time the final walkout commenced, accompanied by Martha & The Vandella’s soulful Motown classic Nowhere To Run, topping off a soulful collection that had the audience on the edge of their seats.
