WELCOME to the rodeo as a wooden saloon-styled runway led the way for Isabel Marant’s AW18 Paris Fashion Week show. Dolly Parton’s hit Jolene came on and set the scene for Marant’s Western-vibed collection. However, this was not her first trip to Southern America with the aesthetic infiltrating her collections since her brand began in 1994. The collection was a seamless progression from her SS18 lookbook with monochromes, browns and oranges being key colours in her fall looks with floral accents.
Silver toe-capped leather cowboy boots were the staple in this collection. Both the female and male models wore them- paired with nearly outfit- some over-the-knee, some ankle height. First out was model Anna Ewers who wore a leather-collared short blanket-style trench partnered with tawny orange leather cowboy boots.
The collection featured a lot of leather with long fringing on boots, bags and trousers. Calfskin and wool made appearances too in the form of coats and cardigans. Bulky oversized masculine coats and jumpers featured, some of which were styled with aztec prints. There were also hints of ruffles on blouses and studs on accessories like boots and bags.
The eveningwear broke away from the leather boots in some instances with black strappy silver-diamonted sandal heels worn by several models. Short leather dresses were paired with the heels over the top of sheer black tights. Model Gigi Hadid had a sequin top matched with leather trousers and the same strappy heels. Many of these looks also featured ruffles too and large silver earrings.
Make up was kept to a minimum with faces looking bare but still dewy. Hair looked natural with little to zero product used.
