THE Wapping Project has just announced that applications for its third residency at its Berlin home are now open. Applicants aged 33 and over practising photography, fine art, film and more, will be in with the chance to take a two-month creative pause – the residency is designed to provide rest, reflection and recreation to artists. The project, started by Womens Playhouse Trust in 1993, recently moved to Berlin after 20 years at the East End’s Wapping Hydraulic Power Plant.
The late Jules Wright, founder of Womens Playhouse Trust, passed away last June, with the Guardian describing her as “a go-getting and inspirational entrepreneur in a theatre world mostly supported by subsidy”.
