AS WE swarm to soak up the first glimpses of summer on Britain’s finest beaches or squeeze around sticky pub garden tables, unfortunately, make-up is not impervious to melting in this stifling heat. To combat this notorious cosmetic conundrum, Irish make-up brand Sculpted by Aimee Connolly has launched their Hydrate & Hold Makeup Setting Spray, which will simultaneously hydrate the skin with a sumptuous citrus mist, while glueing make-up together.
Composed of Lemon extract to control the skin’s natural oils and to fix make-up in place for long periods, as well as Hyaluronic Acid – an established skincare saviour for dehydrated skin – and finally, Centella Asiatica extract to strengthen the skin’s barriers and prevent ageing. All these ingredients merge to concoct a setting spray that upholds the skins natural radiance.
Hydrate & Hold Makeup Setting Spray £18 for 100ML at Boots
I like to use the setting spray in three versatile ways, including spritzing onto bare skin to re-energise clogged and heavy pores, before make-up to prep the skin for a smoother base, and once again when the make-up is applied to meld the look together.
However, perhaps the most problematic skincare plight to arise from the pandemic is Maskne, ensuing from extensive mask-wearing. The setting spray triumphs against this, cooling the uncomfortable humidity of the mask and averting irritation.
To use this product, I spray the mist around 2cm away from my skin in a zigzag motion, to ensure all far corners and crevasses of the face are coated. Encased in a sleek, bronze-toned bottle, Hydrate & Hold Makeup Setting Spray can be seamlessly slipped into a handbag and sprayed multiple times to refresh the skin from the day’s feats.
