London based Canadian born designer Edeline Lee “pulled it back”, in her own words to Glass magazine at her presentation in Soho, to the classy classics for AW16.
Still playing around with wild proportions in her own signature fashion throughout, Edeline made a stellar effort to purify her aesthetic in a funk meets fashion coup. A flow of black, calico and ivory hues were at the centrepiece, proportioned and composed as heavy duty daywear.
Evening wear went ritzier than usual, in money green lurex lame there was no mistake that the standout cocktail party ready pieces were made to count. Elsewhere, bold lines were counted upon as trims for wide coats, one of Edeline’s strongest points, and emerged as the guidelines for the graphically clear cut collection.
These choice charismatic touches, amongst other things and even in despite of the shift in style for Edeline, made this collection instantly memorable and at once refreshing. So much so that if a sartorial identity shift is what this flavoursome designer is in the mood for, we are all for it.
