FASHION week has always been a showcase of talent. A cornicopia of display for designers – and everything that they are capable of. They’re not just creators of clothing – they’re craftspeople. Fine craftspeople that use the runway to display skills. Peter Pilotto has sucked us back into an era of such creations.
Pilotto’s AW17 collection was one that did not just use cottons, linens and velvet – but fabrics formed from classic quilting techniques. It had a homemade and authentic richness to it – but that was all part of it’s charm.
The collection oozed with intricate patterns and an expert melding of fabrics and textures. Pilotto has proven himself on many occasions to be a master of pattern and over-the-top colour choices. This season, he showed us more than print, but variations of texture and craftsmanship that formed an eclectic masterpiece.
