SS21: Feng Chen Wang

EXPERIENCING a unique time of hardship globally, Feng Chen Wang‘s is trying to highlight hope in their spring-summer 2021 collection. Chinese-born and London-based Feng explores the theme and notion of time by looking at the relationship between the past, present and future, but also questioning where we all come from, what is happening now in our lives and where we are heading.

The colours of the collection stray from the bright end of the spectrum with muted, earth tones dominating this summer collection. Pastel blues, greens and shades of khaki were used to create links to the natural world; blue represents the seas and oceans, greens connect with trees and finally, khaki in lighter tones portray sand.

Interesting material juxtapositions like nylon stitched with cotton in certain pieces in the collection aimed to represent the new with the old, the natural with the man-made.

The looks combine tailoring, an old-fashioned trade still prevalent today with extreme functionality and comfort within conceptual pieces. The collection sees the traditional trousers and blazers among casual jackets, shorts and shirts to create a modern man’s ideal wardrobe.
