SINCE taking the reins as creative director of Tod’s in late 2019, Walter Chiapponi has turned to the street art movement as a perennial source of inspiration.
Notably inspired by the monumental legacies of American artists Keith Haring and Jean Michel Basquiat, urban art has played a crucial role in the Italian designers’ creative process for its aesthetic and iconographic value, as well as its ability to express and disrupt.

Emphasising the skill behind this innovative form of art, Tod’s notes that fashion and graffiti “share a common language of freedom, expression, creation and ingenuity that makes them continuous and similar, capable of influencing each other, giving life to hybrid and innovative forms of art.”
“The importance of the manual skill of this art is closely linked to the creative path of Tod’s hand-made craftsmanship, underlining a strong bond that makes the collection unique.”
