Glass chills out at Villa Brezza di Zefiro, Sicily

AS MUCH as you go on holiday to escape your phone, one of the first things I did when I came to Brezza di Zefiro was take a photo to capture the view.

Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Sicily, the three-bedroom, three-bathroom villa is a holiday retreat that blends relaxed luxury with the authentic charm of the region. Perched on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean, the secluded location provides the ideal backdrop for my week-long vacation.

Terrace

Equipped with all the modern amenities like air-conditioning, a hydro-massage pool and even a smart fridge, that you might need, the villa didn’t fall short of maintaining traditional touches. Its manicured gardens, panoramic terrace and attention to detail inside, made for an extra layer of warmth that Italians are known for.

Pool

Waking up to the distant lull of the Tyrrhenian waves, my days are an abundance of fresh food and dips in the pool. Whilst taking a break was the only plan on my agenda, local beaches like Baia Cornino were only a 15-minute drive away, opening up stunning coastal views not found on your Instagram feed.

Living area

Local towns made for evening adventures to enrich my stay as I ate through a celebration of regional gastronomy that showcased both land and sea, like Polpette (Italian meatballs), Sarde a Beccafico (Sicilian stuffed sardines) and Caponata (vegetable dish).

Markets made for pit stops for me to stock up on provincial produce for my attempts to recreate what I ate, as well as great for buying souvenirs to bring back home.

Kitchen

The beauty of staying at places like this is that it’s totally curated by you. The bespoke experience of Brezza di Zefiro beckons you to indulge in all that Sicily has to offer. Or as they call it: dolce far niente – the sweet idleness that defines the Italian lifestyle.
