Glass eats, prays, hides at Chablé Maroma on Riviera Maya

YOU’LL find it hidden somewhere along the stunning Riviera Maya, but it feels like it was plucked right out of your daydreams. Chablé Maroma blends design with lush jungle surroundings, offering a luxurious escape that feels both secluded and chic. From the moment you arrive, the hotel’s thoughtful design and impeccable service invite you to unwind and indulge in a setting tailor-made for relaxation.

Chablé Maroma’s beachfront amenities include a pool and three restaurants

Architect Javier Fernández Galindo teams up with interior designer Paulina Morán to conjure up 70 villas (though you’d never be able to tell) that get sprinkled along the property, each featuring its own private pool. Their strategy: mixing contemporary lines with local materials, adding modern twists to traditional building techniques.

Private pools at each of the villas

The villa itself is a slice of paradise. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows let in sunshine without compromising privacy—both in the bedroom and shower (note: the shower has a balcony with its own shower). The bedroom opens up to the terrace and a sun-lit private pool, glowing in larimar blue (clothing optional, nobody’s gonna find you). Contemporary and cosy, every detail is thoughtfully executed to blend top-tier luxury with comfort.

The villa’s bathroom

Winding paths to and from your villa, lead you through green foliage where nature and design play hide-and-seek, as the white walls of the architecture peek through the bright greens of the palm trees. The bad news is you’re guaranteed to get lost a couple of times. The good news is getting lost is how you find the spa. And believe me, you’ll want to find the spa.

The spa mixes modern comforts with ancient rituals

There, a Mayan spiritual guide performs a cleansing ceremony and blessing; you’re then whisked away to water-themed rituals. I mean treatments. I chose the sound healing, using Tibetan bowls, where your body floats inside a jewel-toned, marble-chiseled pool; its water in shades of forest green and turquoise.

The vibrations of the bowls on the water, their gentle hum, the cool water, and your inner child whispering, “You deserve this.” Wellness is one of Chablé Maroma’s pillars, directly drawing its experiences from Mexico’s ancient spirituality. Its other pillar? Food.

The winery at Bu’ul

Raw Bar with its sea-facing views and lounge areas

There are three restaurants, all led by one of Mexico’s top chefs, Jorge Vallejo, so take your pick. While Bu’ul provides the adventurously bold menu you’d expect from a Michelin Guide restaurant—beautiful plates and deliciously surprising combinations, included—, upstairs, Raw Bar focuses on seafood, mixology, and one hell of a view.

Poolside, Kaban is where you’re most likely to go back to, over and over. The food never disappoints and if you ask nicely, you might even get Chef Carlos Navarrete to teach you how to make sikil pa’ak—a traditional Mayan dish from the Yucatán Peninsula, made from roasted pumpkin seeds, tomatoes, onions, and spices that you mash and crush using a molcajete. You can then take your snack to the nearest pool lounger to dip your tortilla chips in.

Pool area, garden, and white sand beach

One of the most memorable features of Chablé Maroma is how it seamlessly mixes luxury with the natural world. The beach, with its powdery white sand and shimmering blue waters, comes straight out of a postcard; the kind of place where you could lose track of time just watching the waves roll in and out, sipping on a mezcalita, waiting for your beachfront sunset yoga class.

Sunrise by the pool

Chablé Maroma isn’t a hotel in Cancun; it’s an experience where every moment feels special. It’s where luxury and nature come together to create a memorable retreat. Whether you’re resting by your private pool or savouring a meal made with passion, here you’re reminded that every once in a while, your body, mind, and soul need a nourishing and healing escape: somewhere tucked away from the world, feeling like you don’t want to be found. This is it.
