FOR the first day of LFW, Eudon Choi drew upon architecture and modernist design to create his SS18 collection named E1027. The title is a reference to the villa designed by Eileen Gray and her lover, Jean Badovici, on the South-East coast of France. Choi’s use of clean cuts, flowing fabrics and feminine accessories make this collection echo the sun and sea breeze that would surround the modernist villa.
The sharp angles of a building and the functionality, as well as aestheticism, of well-designed furniture is embodied throughout the collection. Office-wear meets a day at the beach where tailored trousers compensate for the flowing blouses, ruffles and puffy sleeves. Pin-stripes and off-the-shoulder scarves add to the nautical theme fitting for coastal France.
Eyeliner brushed in sharp strokes across the models eyes and statement circular earrings were all that demanded attention, after the clothes. Dashes of hot pink broke up the otherwise muted colours used by Choi.
