KHALID Al Qasimi, the creative director behind the brand Qasimi showcased his North African inspired SS19 collection at LMFW this weekend. The Emirati-born, UK-raised designer described having derived inspiration from the Mediterranean shores of North Africa, something that could be seen in the colour palette which mostly featured olive, khaki, burnt orange and golden yellow.
The silhouettes were relaxed with a nostalgic 1980s flare to them, Qasimi said that he had been inspired by the editorial work of Aldo Fallai and his shoot “… a Marrakech” in particular when working on the collection.
The fabrics and print where cohesively mixed, featuring a vide varity from denim to military herringbone cotton as well as floral ikat print and checks on several items.
