Louise Trotter takes the helm as Carven’s new Creative Director

THE iconic French fashion house of Carven has just announced the appointment of Louise Trotter as its new Creative Director. Trotter, a British-born designer with an impressive track record in the fashion industry, is set to unveil her vision for the brand with during September’s spring-summer 2024 season during Paris Fashion Week.

Trotter’s career in fashion began with her studies at Newcastle University, after which she played a pivotal role in the development of the London-based label, Whistles. She then went on to hold leadership positions at major fashion houses, including Calvin Klein, GAP, and Tommy Hilfiger.

In 2009, Trotter became the Creative Director of Joseph, where she spearheaded the brand’s international expansion into ready-to-wear, menswear, and accessories. In recent years Totter served as the Creative Director of Lacoste for four years, during which time she developed new inventive approaches, including upcycling and artistic initiatives.

Trotter’s appointment at Carven has been met with great excitement, with many anticipating her to revive the brand’s youthful and feminine spirit. In a statement, Trotter expressed her eagerness to write a new chapter for Carven, sharing: “I look forward to respecting Madame Carven’s legacy by making clothes with a new simplicity that are both purposeful and beautiful, whilst being kind to people and our environment.”

Shawna Tao, CEO of Carven, also expressed her enthusiasm for Trotter’s appointment, stating: “Louise Trotter is the perfect candidate to revive the house of Carven. She is a talented designer who has the conviction and know-how to create meaningful clothes with a unique understanding of what luxury and sportswear mean today.”

With Louise Trotter at the helm, Carven is set to embark on an exciting new journey that promises to bring a fresh and modern perspective to the legendary French Maison.
