LFW AW23: Simone Rocha

SIMONE Rocha’s autumn/winter 2023 collection is a testament to the designer’s ability to blend tradition, culture, and modernity in a single stroke. Rocha’s inspiration for this showcase comes from Irish relationships, traditions, and rituals, and this theme is evident in every aspect of the collection.

The release features a range of intricate and delicate fabrics, combined with bold and unexpected shapes to create a unique blend of femininity and strength. The designer’s signature floral patterns are present throughout the collection, adding a touch of romance and whimsy to the designs.

One of the standout features of the collection is her use of studs and unexpected accents. The studs add a touch of toughness to the otherwise delicate designs, while the unexpected accents create an element of surprise and intrigue.

Rocha’s attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the collection, from the intricate embroidery to the unique accessories. This season, the designer’s men and women walked through Central Hall Westminster, adorned with tiny red and white ribbons tied in bows beneath their eyes. This small detail gives the illusion of tears and bloodshed, a nod to the emotional and sometimes tumultuous nature of relationships.

As in her previous shows, Rocha has created fashion as pure feeling. By weaving together the disparate threads of art, Irish tradition, music, and people, the designer has created a collection that goes beyond the clothes themselves. Rocha’s release is a celebration of Irish culture and a testament to the power of fashion to evoke emotion and create a connection between the wearer and the world around them.
