Swarovski creates a crystal slipper for the Disney100 auction

CONTINUING its long-term collaboration with Disney, Swarovski has created a 221-faceted crystal slipper to take part in the Disney 100 Years of Wonder (Disney100) celebration.

In commemorating the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company, Giovanna Engelbert, creative director of Swarovski, has chosen to donate the solid crystal slipper in reference to Disney’s 2015 Cinderella live-action film.

To mark such an impressive milestone, Disney has invited an accolade of creative masterminds to donate pieces in order to raise awareness and provide funds for the Make-A-Wish®  foundation.

Commenting on the slipper, Engelbert said: “What inspired me to recreate Cinderella’s iconic crystal slipper for Disney100 is the name of the charity and the idea of a wish. And of course, the slipper is the most famous shoe in the world. It is transformative and full of magic, so it was the perfect way to unite the world of Swarovski with the world of Disney.”

The notorious Cinderella slipper is made from pure Aurora Borealis crystal and reflects radiantly – all thanks to Swarovski’s tireless craftsmanship and dedication to detail. A team of eight technicians spent over 150 hours making the scintillating chef-d’oeuvre.

The bespoke crystal slipper will be auctioned later in 2023 alongside other unique creations, such as a Mickey Mouse sculpture donated by Virgil Abloh’s design firm, Alaska-Alaska. Benefitting Make-A-Wish®, the auction is guaranteed to be full of invaluable, exclusive design pieces – a dream come true for any Disney fan.

To further mark the occasion, Swarovski plans to release its Disney100 x Swarovski collection of interior design products and jewellery. The pieces will revolve around three of Disney’s most ubiquitous characters – Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse. The offering will be available later this year and will exhibit Swarovski’s impressive, intimate relationship with Disney.
