Glass experiences sky-high glamour at London Hilton on Park Lane

AS AUTUMN creeps in and the leaves gradually turn brown and auburn, sometimes all one craves is some warmth and comfort. And London Hilton on Park Lane offers such essential respite.

Situated in the heart of Mayfair, London Hilton on Park Lane was the first ever Hilton to open within the UK. Brimming with history and prestige, the hotel continues to enthral and delight all visitors since its debut in 1963.

Forming part of London’s remarkable skyline for many decades, some may worry that the hotel may now appear dated or antiquated. But fear not – that’s definitely not the case. Following a series of recent refurbishments, the hotel stands as a modern oasis for Park Lane pursuers.

Spacious yet intimate, the hotel houses an impressive 452 guest rooms alongside 56 distinct suites and a sparkling Presidential suite. Intertwining tradition with a contemporary design style, the hotel pays homage to its past with its interior design aesthetic. Low-slung furniture featuring rounded edges and velvety finishes adorn the Hilton’s lobby and bar areas.

Similarly, the hotel’s suites exude the same allure. As I entered my room – the Balmoral Suite – on the building’s 27th floor, I immediately noticed an exquisite attention to detail. High ceilings appeared elongated by hanging lamps, delicate blown glass vases embellished the suite’s various countertops, and orchids provided further elegance and sophistication.

The suite’s panoramic views overlooking the city and St James’ Park played a pivotal role in my stay. From the London Eye to Canary Wharf, the suite enabled me to indulge in the bustling metropolis’ scenery.

Additionally, the suites on the 27th floor come fitted with luxuries such as super king-size beds with bespoke 300-thread-count Supima cotton bed linen, marble bathrooms with Molton Brown amenities, generous wardrobe/dressing areas and complimentary access to the hotel’s Executive Lounge.

Meanwhile, the London Hilton’s Spa is a must-visit for those looking to enjoy a mindful getaway. Helmed by a team of expert therapists, the spa has an exciting menu featuring signature massages, revitalising facials and unique body scrubs to rejuvenate and revive any wearied visitors.

Alongside its wellness treatments, the hotel also emphasises relaxation through its various gastronomic offerings. For example, the Revery Bar is London Hilton on Park Lane’s cosy, dimly-lit cocktail destination – an excellent spot to unwind over an ice-cold beverage.

Spearheaded by Head Bartender Eugeniu Pogonet, the bar serves up delicious signature cocktails. Menu stand-outs include The Regent – crafted with Monkey 47, Cocchi Americano, Blueberry Cordial, Lime Juice, Pineapple Juice and Campari – and the Timeless Glamour – made with Flor de Cana 12, Hennessy VSOP, Cacao Blanc Liqueur, Woodford Rye Whiskey, Syrup, Chili Tincture, Angostura, Peychaud’s and Chocolate Bitter.

Alternatively, the Park Corner Brasserie is a great venue to wine and dine with friends and family, whilst taking in the hotel’s décor. Executive Head Chef Jean-Didier Gouges has curated the menu to focus on local produce and seasonal ingredients, resulting in a brasserie that is an ideal all-day dining location, serving anything from scallops and oysters to dry-aged beef and slow-cooked duck leg.

London Hilton on Park Lane is also opening two new dining venues as part of its recent transformation. This month, The Entourage Group is unveiling its first London outpost for MR PORTER – its acclaimed Amsterdam fine dining steakhouse.

Later in the year, Shanghai Me – a Dubai-born pan-Asian restaurant – will open on the hotel’s 28th floor, making it the highest restaurant in Mayfair. With 1930s Shanghai-inspired interiors designed by Richard Saunders, the restaurant is set to epitomise Art Deco grandeur.

“As we usher in a new era for the hotel through our multi-million-pound refurbishment, we’re excited to unveil our new venues. Embarking upon these new partnerships will take our food and drink offer to the next level, ensuring the hotel remains the destination for discerning diners and global travellers alike,” explains Matthew Mullan, London Hilton on Park Lane’s General Manager.

With staff attending to one’s every need and a wide range of entertainment options for young ones, the hotel is certain to please families and solo travellers alike. And with previous guests including the late Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana and the Beatles, it’s no wonder that London Hilton on Park Lane remains one of Mayfair’s top hospitality destinations.
