IT IS that dreaded time of year again when you notice your summer glow, which you’ve spent the last five months building, rapidly fade. If you, like me, are coming to terms with the paler months ahead, then this step-by-step guide to autumn tanning is just for you. Plus, if you also, like me, have admired the warm glow of the pins of the Strictly Come Dancing contestants and have shamefully tried googling which tan they use, then look no further. Norvell is the official tanner of Strictly, and you can now buy their exclusive Strictly Come Dancing range online. Norvell products are 100 per cent vegan and can be used in both professional spray tan environments as well as your own home, and finally, are affordable and incredibly effective. I tried a selection of four of the Norvell products myself to provide you with a guide on how to bring the glow to your tanning woes.
Norvell Venetian Self Tanning Mousse with Bronzer £25.99
Norvell’s Venetian Self Tanning Mousse with bronzer
Lightweight, creamy and incredibly easy to blend, this self-tanning mousse from Norvell has quickly become a holy grail item in my toiletries. For me, it’s the unique combination of bronzer pigments designed to counter unwanted orange undertones that has me hooked. Aptly named the Venetian range, Norvell has created a product that resembles a tan that you could feasibly achieve in the European Riviera, with an additional nod to the Mediterranean via the exotic fragrance, named Paradise Breeze.
Apply as instructed on the bottle, but make sure you don’t forget to moisturise your hand, feet, elbows, and knees before application. This is an effective formula that will bring you to a healthy tan colour after one layer, any dry spots will go beyond this and affect the natural-looking result. Leave overnight for best results and gently wash off in the shower the following morning. For me, this tan lasts 4-5 days if you exfoliate before and maintain with a daily moisturiser.
Norvell Self-Tanning Mist for Face £9.99
Norvell’s Self-Tanning Mist for face
Another of my staple products is this Norvell self-tanning mist, which has transformed my morning routine. Primarily for the fact that I no longer feel the need to wear skin makeup with my sun-kissed complexion. It recommends applying with a sponge but for me, I found it far easier to use a tanning mitt because the product dries fast (my favourite element of the mist) and a sponge can’t glide it across the face as well. Worries of a stained top or smudge, which were the norm prior to Norvell, have completely evaded me.
Norvell Ultra Vivid Collection, 1 Hour Rapid Mousse £29.99
Norvell’s Ultra Vivid Collection, 1 Hour Rapid Mousse
This product is a godsend for those unexpected last-minute plans and I’ve already recommended it to a few of my friends. It is incredibly fast to dry, does not leave any streaks, and can be relied upon to not smudge or stain any clothing. The colour result mirrors that of the other Norvell products – a natural-looking brown rather than the orange/red/green tones that other brands can often create.
Norvell The Ultra Vivid Tan Extender £29.99
Norvell’s Ultra Vivid Tan Extender
Finally, you can sharpen your sunless tan with the help of the Norvell Tan Extender. Featuring vitamin B; Vitamin C; watermelon, tomato, and cranberry extract; almond, grapeseed, soybean and sunflower oils, this product nourishes and firms the skin, reduces redness, evens skin tone, delays signs of ageing, and improves the skins moisture retention. Ultimately, it is the holy grail item for those who fake tan, because not only does it provide a skin base ideal for tan application, but it also helps prolong your tan post-application as well.
