LANGOUROUS adolescent summers inspired the Stefan Cooke SS19 collection, which was presented at the MAN SS19 show organised by Topman and Fashion East.
With a focus on re-imagining the quintessentially ordinary through artistic manipulation, London-based designer Stefan Cooke’s collection of mismatched tartans, close fitting cardigans and slouchy chinos were elevated through innovative tailoring, digitally printed fabrics and the occasional unexpected addition of an ostrich feather belt.
The collection found the elegance in ennui, adding ruffled collars to graphic t-shirts and monochrome bomber jackets. Models carried a selection of what appeared to be paper shopping bags, which were in fact fashioned from a durable and washable cardboard and reinforced with studded feet.
The designer’s first Spring/Summer collection took geek chic to new heights, in a celebration of the awkward grace of teenage masculinity.
