When people talk of Hollywood and LA, the standard and quality of luxury hotels is very high and I can safely say that the London West Hollywood hotel occupies the pinnacle of this. Situated in a quiet location just off Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, and voted in 2014 as one of the T+L top 500 hotels around the world, it aims to marry its two namesake cities, emulating the best of cosmopolitan chic and California cool – something I resonated with, being a first-time LA visitor from London; the style made me feel not too far from home.
The hotel is timeless and spacious, with elements of luxury running through its elegant design. The interior design was the vision of the renowned designer David Collins Studio which has an impressive client list including the Alexander McQueen stores, Claridge’s Bar in Mayfair, London amongst others.
Bordering on Beverly Hills and Hollywood, and just round the corner from the renowned Viper Room nightclub (which was part owned by Johnny Depp until 2004), London Hollywood enjoys direct access to the vibe of LA’s social scene. It is also just a stone’s throw from the famous Hollywood Hills, which can be seen from the upper floors of the hotel.
The hotel boasts an impressive rooftop which hosts the most glamorous of Hollywood parties, with its pool and panoramic views across Los Angeles. The rooms are spacious and open plan and echo the chic of a Hollywood residence. There are many room options available varying from the beautiful Royal Crown Suite, which consists of 1,650 square feet of living space offering a generous living room and adjoining expansive bedroom, to the Deluxe Veranda Suites which combine at least 725 square feet of indoor space with 250 square feet of incomparable outdoor living looking out over the LA skyline.
On the ground floor of the hotel the culinary team of Gordon Ramsay provide cuisine of an excellent standard which is integral to the whole ambience of the Hotel. Under the direction of Executive Chef Anthony Keene, Gordon Ramsay cuisine has been re-interpreted for the California lifestyle using seasonal, fresh local produce to delight the sophisticated guests. And it certainly delighted us.
