Above all else, Steven Miesel’s vision for how Prada should be seen in 2014 is drawn from a bilateral understanding of how the clothing should be appreciated. And for April, around the time we all begin to set our sights on how the year ahead is truly beginning to pan out, this reserved appreciation is his modus operandi.
Prada, and its reliable cult leadership of introspective artistry, is wise to rely on Meisel to communicate an exact, desirously tangible, interplay between intimacy and luxury. The fastidious voice of the superlative Milanese label has very rarely been discounted, and for their newest ad campaign, which captures prime Prada delegate, this moment’s model – Lexi Bolling, the relaxed forms speak plenty.
This is all we have come to want from Prada, and the simplistic setting preserves the eloquent craftsmanship, with new caramel and limpid white leather looks rolling off the skin like pure excellence. Other accompaniments from the collection – note the leather skirts, sheer vaporous blouses and acceding ascot scarves – make use of the flow of natural light by their own accord, highlighting the significance of each piece.
This year’s pragmatic synchronisation of Miesel and Prada will make for pleasing viewing, but rather frankly, did you expect much more? For it’s those who are in the know that will lap up April’s visual complexion.
