“THERE is nothing more beautiful than seeing young dads with their kids,” gushed Balenciaga creative director, Demna Gvasalia. The designer has his male models walk down the runway carrying their children at Bois de Boulogne, a public park in Paris, as they showcased the Balenciaga SS18 men’s collection.
The apparels gave off a very typical ‘80s dad impression as the models wore over-sized polo shirts in bright Hawaiian printed shirts tucked into trousers giving the feeling that the models are going through a rough mid-life crisis – leather, denim and chino cloth all formed together to create the ensemble.
A look that Glass appreciated the was the bulky block colour blazers – especially the plum coloured look. The solid colour was a classic Balenciaga design and was paired with simple grey t-shirt and leather trousers – think Miami Vice for Europe. Another look was the printed shirt in a variety of orange matched with high-waited, pinstriped trousers and a leather jacket which decorated with the saying The Power Of Dreamz on the arms. Topped off with leopard-printed sunglasses, the look blended different eras, creating the perfect look for 21 century.
Windbreakers, waterproof jackets and trousers and hefty puffer jackets were also seen with the brands logo as well as branded shopping bags.
