THE environment that the new generation of creatives is entering is unlike any that their elders have previously experienced. This group of individuals need all the support and help they can get, and with this mindset, Tod’s announces a collaboration with Central Saint Martins.
Launching the Tod’s Academy last July in the Marche region in Italy, it is a place where artisans can help and support students through teaching them techniques and sharing knowledge. Not only is this an academy that nurture’s talent, but it also emphasises the excellence of the artisans in Italy – reinforcing Tod’s Made in Italy ethos.
Tod’s Chairman Diego Della Valle in partnership with the course director of MA Fashion at CSM, Fabio Piras will come together to present this special project in February during London Fashion Week.
Work by some of the 33 young designers
The digital exhibition will consist of 33 young designers, selected by Central Saint Martins to reinterpret one or more of Tod’s codes. Not just celebrating the final product, but looking in-depth at the creative process, the presentation with show the beginning-middle-and-end of each project.
The designers will be assigned a mentor from a list of some of the most prestigious international editors, journalists and designers, whose knowledge and perspective will be referenced to help enrich the students work.
“This is a beautiful project that supports students and at the same time brings unusual and innovative points of view to Tod’s. I would like to thank all the mentors who have helped us, Central Saint Martins and Fabio Piras for their exceptional contribution,” says Diego Della Valle.
