DIOR Joaillerie have shared a new series of illustrations by head jewellery designer Victoire de Castellane, incorporating the house’s signature Rose des vents lucky star motif. The illustrations portray Castellane alongside Monsieur Dior himself, and aim to highlight that “being at home isn’t an excuse for not being active – or from managing to look especially elegant while doing so.”

The series draws from Monsieur Dior’s largely unknown love for cooking, which he frequently drew parallels to in his lifetime of work. “The materials used in the kitchen are just as noble as those in couture, and in my profession I like how the realisation of the work is associated with the involvement of the hands and mind,” noted the founding couturier.

The inclusion of a lucky star motif within Castellane’s illustrations, sheds light on the house’s Rose des vents jewellery collection, which presents the same symbol gilded and encrusted on everything – from watch-faces in malachite to earrings in mother-of-pearl. “A symbol of travel, in it you find echoes of Christian Dior’s star and the idea of the good-luck charm, but also the rose, his favorite flower. The whole history of the house is there, implicitly,” the Dior Joaillerie creative director explains.
