AS SWEET strings and gentle classical tunes drift you away and flickering moonlight pours through branches, Agro Studio transports you on a journey to another world.
In a fever dream stitched from folklore and London after dark, George Oxby and Angus Cockram unveil ‘The Wanderers‘, a collection that reframes the fairytale for a generation raised on rebellion. The founders and couple conjure a narrative where innocence is recast as instinct and beauty is sharpened by survival. It is not a bedtime story but a manifesto written in leather, silk and shadow.
Imagine Little Red Riding Hood rewritten in her own hand. In this telling, she does not wait to be rescued; she kills the wolf, skins him and transforms the threat into a trophy. Icelandic sheepskin becomes exquisite trims, and the leather aviator layers are tailored into sharp coats cut close to the body. Following her is a hunter who is less saviour and more accomplice in the tailored sets that follow, their chemistry charged and conspiratorial. The romance is feral and deliberate, a study in power reclaimed and worn with intention.
Oxby and Cockram themselves seem conjured from the same nocturnal realm. One can picture them as the Brothers Grimm reborn as East London regulars at Hackney warehouse raves where basslines throb beneath vaulted ceilings and candlelight flickers against concrete. Floral gothic corsets sculpt the torso while grungy lace slips across skin with studied nonchalance. There is decadence here but also discipline each silhouette controlled each detail purposeful.
In this woodland clearing, strutting on fallen autumn leaves, the models look dynamic, adaptable, effortlessly cool in armour-like metallic sets that can be worn to dominate the pavement or an underground listening, grabbing some drinks in the jungle of London. Thick, messy hair was paired with ruched, dropped waist dresses and flowing downs, as the girls roamed through this clearing of the deep, dark forest, just like modern Maid Marian.
But where Agro grabs the most attention is with the large glittering shawls and jackets that reflect the twilight that is around them. These chic glittering gowns in seductive black, or a glittering pink cocktail dresses can easily be worn to the ball and the afterparty.
Throughout the collection, bold prints remained a key marker of the brand’s biggest ode to individuality. It is true that these silk tartan torn prints take someone who is bold and a force within their own individuality. Bold silhouettes and padded hips, some of which protrude outwards with dramatic force, garner attention from all glancing eyes. These shapes command attention and celebrate confidence within the wearer. The garments invite movement and presence, allowing the person wearing them to occupy space with mythical silence.
