KNOWN for their spectacular seasonal edits showcasing the hidden gems within runway collections and seeking out new designers, London’s Koibird store is taking a different approach for SS21. Instead of using a destination as inspiration, this edit explores the world of fitness and wellbeing.
Ahead of the postponed Olympics later this year, mental and physical health is being triumphed in the Koibird Breaks A Sweat edit.

Spiritual Gangster Sports Bar and Biker Shorts, Inked Grails Socks and Lo Rox Ball
Port de Bras Sports Bra, Crop Top and High Waisted Leggings, Poppy Lissiman Sunglasses and Venessa Arizaga Earrings
Curating high-performance pieces, cult casual-wear and new emerging talent who focus on innovation when approaching sport attire, Koibird has built this edit not just on these three principles, but also with the focus on how these designers and brands empower women. Looking beyond the seams and at the brand ethics, technical prowess, conscious production and charitable efforts are four principles that have also been taken into account.

LA’s Adam Selman, Cotton Citizen and Spiritual Gangster delve into design by championing high quality with sculptural cut outs and vibrant prints. While Heroine Sport and Beach Riot rewind to the 80s and pay homage to the wet-look and pastel sets that were distinctive of the era. Chinatown Market and the Koibird exclusive Nervis look at the Smiley raver iconography, and La Detresse takes a more playful approach to loungewear with a more hippie tie-dye effect.

When looking at performance, Twenty Montreal and Koral balance aesthetic with technical modifications by using 3D-knitting and compression materials to boost their functionality. Port de Bras, whose roots lie in ballet have created contemporary sportswear from 100% biodegradable fabrics and brand Donni prioritise production from female-led local factories.
Chinatown Market Basketball
Tangram Smart Skipping Rope
Lorox Alligned Life Complete Set
However, the Koibird edit is not all about clothes. Expanding into fitness equipment, food and skincare products, there is a holistic feel to this collection. In terms of home workout tools, wearable weights from Bala, basketballs from Chinatown Market and a super exciting smart skipping rope from Tangram will be available.
Supplements like Raw Nice’s rainbow vegan powder and Evolution Botanicals collagen boosters to tackle inflammation and digestion are also a part of the edit alongside Agent Nateur and Costa Brazil‘s cruelty-free skincare pieces.
With Koibird partly being about the unrivalled experience in-store, there has been a swift from physical to digital this season. Embarking on online story-telling until the doors of the store can open, it is time to get into shape inside with Koibird so we can flourish once we are allowed outside.
