MARKING their first venture into the beauty and interior sphere, Alexander McQueen launches a candle collection. Made up of three unique scents – Ghost Flower, Pagan Rose and Savage Bloom – the nature-inspired interior brings the eternal juxtaposition at the core of the British brand into our homes.
Carefully crafted by a different perfumer, each of the three candlemakers was given an open brief taken from the House’s design codes, ensuring that though they were stepping away from clothes with this launch, that the identity of McQueen is evident.
Ghost Flower has a focus on fresh freesia and peony with hues of earthy patchouli; Pagan Rose balances fragile wild rose with earthy peat; and Savage Bloom begins with tuberose and slowly uncovers a musky oud.
All are made from a mixture of black mineral waxes and rapeseed wax, and encased in an egg-shaped black lacquered glass with either a silver, black or gold metal lid. Further protected in a mycelium shell and then again in a wooden crate, this new McQueen item is given the same savoir-faire touch as the clothes, transforming it from a mundane item to a lucrative must-have.
