Edward Cuming launches his Autumn/Winter 2022 collection

CENTRAL SAINT MARTIN’S graduate and Madrid-based designer Edward Cuming has launched his AW22 collection, taking inspiration from his own adolescence for its design.

His collection is focused on creating a wardrobe through traditional building blocks yet breaking constructs of fashion. Edward Cuming AW 22

The collection is filled with exaggerated yet fluid silhouettes, hinting at a soft masculinity however, simultaneously subverting social constructions in terms of gendered clothing. The garments reveal elements of design that are usually hidden, such as visible hems or natural fraying.

Cuming’s collection features oversized trench coats, subverted tailoring, inverted jerseys, recontextualised sweatpants, colourful knitwear, skirts, silk shirts, and rugged denim.

Mohair sweaters and shirts adorned with circular graphic elements provide the collection with pops of colour which contrasts different cut-outs of the garments.Edward Cuming AW 22

The collection juxtaposes fluid fabrics with frayed hems and tough denim, soft colours with bright graphics, and traditional with unconventional. With this launch, Cuming has shown his rebellious spirit but also his appreciation for conventions of the fashion industry.
