Glass gets rid of puffiness with Dr. Barbara Sturm

WHAT causes puffiness in the face? Well, in short, it means that there has been a build-up of fluid in the tissue that’s collected under the skin.

It’s a common occurrence, and here to help right in time for the party season is skincare specialist Dr. Barbara Sturm.

With a background in medicine, ten years ago Sturm applied her scientific and medical learnings to the field of aesthetics.

Since then, her brand has evolved and she’s developed a line of coveted products and treatments, loved for their nourishing formulas that protect, strengthen and detoxify the complexion and body, cue anti-aging red light treatments and facials that incorporate lymphatic massage. With all this know-how Sturm has offered up her easy-to-follow skincare steps to reduce puffiness.

“My entire medical career has focused on combatting inflammation in the skin and body. Over 20 years ago, I pioneered a pair of anti-inflammatory medical treatments that deploy the body’s own healing anti-inflammatory blood proteins. I also work with botanically derived antioxidants that have significant anti-inflammatory properties.

Inflammation is the primary cause of skin disease and dysfunction, including hyperpigmentation, suppression of collagen production, premature ageing, redness, itching, psoriasis, eczema, acne, rosacea, and seborrheic dermatitis. Inflammation is also the bane of overall wellness,” explains Dr. Barbara Sturm

Step One: Apply a cold compress cloth to the affected areas for about 10-15 minutes. The cold helps constrict blood vessels and reduces inflammation.

Step Two: Apply a thin layer of my Aloe Vera Gel to the puffy areas. Aloe Vera has anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe and reduce swelling.

Step Three: Next, gently perform lymphatic massage using upward strokes. Start from the centre of your face and move outward, focusing on areas with puffiness. This can help stimulate lymphatic drainage and reduce fluid retention. Afterwards, apply my Face Mask for immediate skin cooling and hydration.

Step Four: For the eyes, be sure to include my Super Anti-Aging Eye Serum in your daily routine. It’s the ultimate treatment to address puffiness, sagging, dark circles, fine lines and increase microcirculation around the eyes.

Step Five: Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Dehydration can contribute to puffiness, so staying hydrated is essential for maintaining a healthy balance.
