Kiko Kostadinov and E-WAX celebrate the SS23 process with book – À Mon Seul Désir

LONDON-BASED brand Kiko Kostadinov held their first-ever womenswear show during Paris Fashion Week last year and have now released a collaboration with photographer and artist E-WAX documenting the milestone.

The photographic monograph, À Mon Seul Désir, captures the entirety of the SS23 collection process from backstage chaotic-ness to fittings and tireless preparation.

The hardcover book lures attention in with its rich red cover and 176 pages of E-WAX’s collection of photographs and illustrations, exhibiting a visual countdown leading up to the show date. The Japanese artist and photographer has acquainted himself with the fashion industry now for several years, working with an array of esteemed brands such as Missoni, Porter and Adidas.

À Mon Seul Désir presents as a visual dossier artfully encapsulating the development of the collection from Kiko Kostadinov’s London design studio to their Paris show venue. E-WAX combines illustration and imagery to graphically frame time and showcase the essence and surroundings that brought the collection to its final form.

Brought to life by sisters Laura and Deanna Fanning, Kiko Kostadinov’s SS23 collection exudes a dreamy combination of playfulness and unconventionality with its obscure pattern cuts, colour pairings and quirky accessories.

Cowboy boots are paired with lacey, flowy fabrics while vibrant polychromatic mesh dresses compliment ballet-themed flats. Silver chunky necklaces with unique pendants and star-embellished mesh face coverings give the looks an avant-garde flair honing into the distinguishable character that is Kiko Kostadinov.

The casual nature of E-WAX’s street photography background shines through the imagery giving the publication a raw aesthetic which fully allows its readers to grasp the realness that chaperons the creative process behind fashion design and production. The scattered illustrations beside the photographs give the pages a personal touch and further, match the playfulness the brand has come to be known for.

À Mon Seul Désir is a souvenir marking the brand’s first-ever womenswear collection. Involving the reader into the world of what it means to be a part of Kiko Kostadinov, the limited edition publication demonstrates as a milestone keepsake.
